Welcome to Aure Entuluva
"Last of all Hurin stood alone. Then he cast aside his shield, and wielded an axe two-handed; and it is sung that the axe smoked in the black blood of the troll-guard of Gothmog until it withered, and each time that he slew Hurin cried 'Aurë Entuluva! Day shall come again!' Seventy times he uttered that cry; but they took him at last alive..."
-The Silmarillion

Aurë Entuluva is a fun, friendly bunch of casual players on the Windfola server. We have many fine current and former members and all have come to know us as a band of friends that appreciate how this game has made the world of Tolkien come alive.
We strive to have an environment of adventure, respect, tolerance, humour and good cheer. Ngaemond is our current leader, he along with the Kinship's officers (Deems, Lathlorn, and Jessica-Virtual).

Guide to Dol Guldur instances available
Some generous person posted a guide to the Dol Guldur instance cluster. See http://lorebook.lotro.com/wiki/Guide_to_Dol_Guldur_Instance_Cluster
Do note that on the Lotro forums there has been some feedback and a few "corrections". Ngaemond praised the person who posted the guide but had a few questions/comments.

Hope this helps.

Test your Tolkien kung-fu!
Lotro forums directs our attention to two online quizzes by The Escapist website: Normal and "Impossible". Both quizzes do include questions related to Lotro and Battle for Middle Earth (which I neither have nor have played) as well as questions based on the Jackson movies. The "Impossible" quiz also includes questions that come from The Silmarillion.
I scored 90% on Normal and 70% on Impossible.
How well do you know Tolkien - not to mention the movies and the games based thereon?

Welcome to Dol Guldur!
What a week eh?
1) Our kinship grows by a few good players.
2) Shadows of Mirkwood comes out - and the insanity begins.
3) Kristin (I think) is the first to ding 61. Shurman the first to ding 64. Several in the kinship already at 63 or higher.
4) Our first visit to Dol Guldur. Pretty much a cake walk until we entered Sammath Gul(?). Quickly swarmed by 22k level 66 guards - we dealt with them but the reinforcements ground us down. Good times.

Official launch notes on Shadows of Mirkwood now available
http://lorebook.lotro.com/wiki/Release_Notes_Volume_2_Siege_of_Mirkwood_Launch_Official
Oh many things one could note. Just between Lathlorn and me check out the following little detail:
"Turtle-shelled Bracelet Recipe" renamed to "Turtle-shell Bracelet Recipe" to match the output item. Also, the required items to produce this recipe's output can be located in the Turtle Raid loot container.
Wooty woot!
Festival mask will now have beards that poke through the mask.Noooooooo!
Also - from level 61-65 there will be no 2nd or 1st age drops. We can only craft 2nd ages - requiring a component that comes from some of the new instances. Interesting.

More information on new barter system for radiance and other gear
Very informative and very important:
http://community.codemasters.com/forum/showthread.php?t=397218
Any emblems you have now for radiance pieces - you might seriously consider not turning them in. Emblems from Skumfil and Forges will become especially valuable even while other tokens such as Elf Stones will become less valuable. Note especially changes to Grand Stairs - hard mode will become permanent hard. Some things are good and some things not so good.
I will let people decide what the implications are and what they might want to do about it.

Lotro developers on book 9 and Shadows of Mirkwood
Significant changes are coming to the game with book 9 and Shadows of Mirkwood. Two very important posts on Lotro developer blogs:
1) Amlug's Page - Upcoming radiance barter changes
2) Orion's Belt - Friday's food for thought
In a nutshell:
- Bosses in instances will drop medallions for everyone in the group. These can be traded in for - among other things - radiance gear. What this means is that theoretically you can get a full set (with two notable exceptions) without entering every rad instance or killing every boss.
- But there are ways to get more medallions with certain challenges - so there are still reasons to do full instance runs and/or to do less popular instances. No more "hard mode" as such.
